Johan Fleury de Witte hosts Mathieu Cherkit at "L'Ile" an intimate location on the Ile Saint Louis in Paris.

Spotted at the well-known « Salon de Montrouge » in 2010, Mathieu Cherkit is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieur des Beaux Arts in Nantes.

He also had the opportunity to study at the "Hochshule für Grafik und Buchkunst" in Leipzig in Neo Rauch’s atelier, where he met important actors of the “New Leipzig School” like artists Matthias Weischer and David Schnell.

This experience explains his ability to use colors and matter with force and dynamism. Mathieu Cherkit’s painted scenes transform patterns, geometry and space and hustle the established lines of figurative painting. Beaux Arts Magazine describes him as a « virtuoso painter », and you will have the opportunity to discover him at the hanging of his work Friday, May 6th at 6pm and until May the 22nd by appointment.
